In this role, the selected candidate will take charge of the technical delivery for PACS build, integration, migration, and customer environment onboarding onto the InSight PACS platform. Serving as the primary technical expert for healthcare system commissioning and interoperability, the engineer will interact with private healthcare providers, NHS trusts, and third-party suppliers. While hands-on technical work is the main focus, the position also involves coordinating the daily technical workload of the implementation team and mentoring less experienced engineers.
Ideal candidates will possess extensive experience implementing and migrating healthcare imaging solutions, paired with strong database querying abilities and familiarity with DICOM and HL7 standards. The job includes minimal travel for occasional collaboration and training sessions at the Basingstoke office.
Responsibilities

- Act as the primary subject matter expert regarding DICOM, HL7, and healthcare interoperability standards with customers and partners.
- Design and troubleshoot integration pathways connecting PACS, RIS, EPR, VNA, and other clinical third-party systems.
- Execute imaging data migrations and handle database queries and troubleshooting to preserve data integrity and limit clinical downtime.
- Coordinate daily technical tasks and workflows for the implementation team while offering direct leadership, mentorship, and escalation support.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Operations, and Client Experience groups to enhance integration features and update technical materials.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with the implementation, integration, or migration of PACS, RIS, VNA, or related medical imaging systems.
- Deep working knowledge of DICOM services including C-Store, C-Find, C-Move, and Modality Worklist.
- Practical background in utilizing HL7 messaging within healthcare integration environments.
- Solid SQL and database capabilities covering querying, interrogation, and troubleshooting for systems powering PACS and integration platforms.
- Hands-on background with PACS configuration, system commissioning, and building inside regulated healthcare settings.
- Demonstrated history of guiding, coordinating, or mentoring engineers on a technical delivery team.
Qualifications
- Prior work experience involving NHS organizations, including familiarity with digital information governance and NHS procurement workflows.
- Familiarity with cloud-hosted healthcare services and applications.
- Background in imaging archive consolidation or VNA migration initiatives.
- Exposure to contributing toward reference architectures or architectural standards across cloud-based, hybrid, or on-premises setups.
- Relevant certifications in healthcare IT, project delivery, or system implementation.
