Job Description
This remote, full-time Senior Payroll Analyst job leads payroll for North America at Mozilla. The team runs semi-monthly payroll for roughly 800 employees across the United States and Canada. Responsibilities include delivering each pay run accurately and on schedule, complying with statutes set by federal, state, provincial, and local authorities, and producing reports and analysis that the business requires.
The analyst oversees payroll from start to finish for both countries, manages tax compliance and filings, and works through payroll issues with colleagues and external providers. Coordination with People Operations, Benefits, and vendors ensures benefit deductions and related transactions are correct. The analyst serves as the in-house authority on payroll rules and system functions and looks for ways to standardize and scale the work.
Year-end responsibilities include producing W-2 and T4 information, preparing tax returns, and supporting audits. The analyst also trains and guides a Payroll Administrator and contributes to process improvement and cross-team projects.
Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree in a business, accounting, finance, or related discipline, plus at least seven years of payroll experience, ideally including both U.S. and Canadian payrolls. A comparable mix of education and experience is accepted. Required knowledge includes federal and state or provincial payroll tax rules and payroll software. Experience with ADP Workforce Now is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities
- Run end-to-end semi-monthly payroll for about 800 employees in the U.S. and Canada
- Keep payroll tax work compliant with every relevant federal, state, provincial, and local rule
- Take ownership of payroll problems and resolve them with internal and external contacts
- Work with People Operations, Benefits, and vendors on deductions and payroll postings
- Handle year-end work such as W-2 and T4 issuance, tax returns, and audit support
- Mentor the Payroll Administrator and streamline payroll procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a business, accounting, or finance field, or equivalent education and experience
- At least seven years handling payroll, ideally covering U.S. and Canadian payrolls
- Strong grasp of federal and state or provincial payroll tax regulations
- Hands-on experience with payroll systems
- Service-oriented communication across all organizational levels
- Precision, organization, analytical skill, and integrity with sensitive data
Qualifications
- ADP Workforce Now experience, which is strongly preferred
- Experience working across functions
- Certified Payroll Professional or equivalent designation
