Monzo seeks a Senior PR and Communications Manager for a 12-month fixed-term contract to drive expansion efforts across international markets outside of the UK. Monzo is a financial technology company offering personal and business bank accounts, joint accounts, accounts for 16-17 year olds, free kids accounts, and credit cards, alongside savings, investments, and pension consolidation services.
This position is well-suited for an experienced public relations professional who excels at strategic planning and execution across multiple European regions. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Communications, the person in this role will guide daily public relations operations in established markets like Spain and Ireland while orchestrating market entry campaigns in brand-new territories. The job requires close coordination with internal teams such as marketing, social media, influencer relations, product development, and company leadership, as well as the supervision of an EU PR Manager based in Spain and international agencies.
Candidates must be able to balance broad global initiatives with localized storytelling, manage multiple market rollouts concurrently, and act as a trusted advisor to senior executives on media training and external messaging. Work locations include the London or Cardiff offices, or distributed work within the UK with required meetings in London and potential international travel.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute all public relations tasks in current European markets including Spain and Ireland
- Lead and implement go-to-market strategies for brand-new European regions, establishing resources and launch frameworks
- Secure media coverage through large campaigns and reactive, locally relevant news moments
- Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership regarding external communications, storytelling, and media training
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, commercial, and operations groups to amplify PR opportunities
- Supervise current international agencies and team members while preparing for expansion in new EU markets
- Build relationships with journalists and handle incoming media inquiries
- Utilize data and insights to adapt strategies for international growth and monitor industry policy trends
Requirements
- Proven background directing tailored and scalable public relations strategies across multiple international markets
- Experience launching brands with minimal existing awareness into new European territories
- Demonstrated track record of building and directing high-performing teams
- Substantial experience collaborating with and overseeing external agencies across various regions
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
