Job Description
Careem is hiring a Senior Product Designer in Dubai to take charge of design for a major part of its super app, which covers ride-hailing, food delivery, grocery shopping and payments. The role is full-time and senior. The designer would set design direction for a feature area, run several workstreams at the same time, and shape both the product team and the wider design organisation.
Responsibilities involve taking a feature area from first concept through to launch, working as an equal partner to product and engineering leads, and sorting out dependencies early. The designer ships finished work covering every state and edge condition, plus dark mode, localisation and right-to-left layouts from day one. They work inside the design system, decide when to stretch it and when to propose an exception, prototype rapidly (including with AI-assisted tools) and state the design principles behind their choices.
The role also includes research to test design work, such as user interviews for discovery and evaluation, using data to set how success is measured, presenting work with confidence to audiences including executives, writing clear problem framings, decision documents and critique notes, and managing stakeholders so projects keep their pace.

Requirements
- Over five years of experience delivering digital products to large user bases
- Experience heading design for a major product area during fast growth
- Full-cycle skill across interaction, visual, prototyping and design thinking methods
- Comfortable with design systems, both contributing to them and stress-testing them
- Uses AI tools daily and can judge where they help and where they do not
- Strong mobile-first portfolio with case studies that explain process and results
Qualifications
- Prior work for Middle East audiences, Arabic-first interfaces, or multi-vertical super apps
- Experience designing AI-powered experiences such as assistants or personalisation
