Job Description

GitLab, the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps, seeks a Senior Product Manager, Billing Engine & Platforms Monetization for a remote position. In this technical and systems-oriented role, the successful candidate will direct the backend usage billing pipeline, metering, aggregation, and rating systems rather than customer-facing user interfaces. GitLab serves millions of registered users and over half of the Fortune 100, relying on AI as a core productivity multiplier across its distributed workforce. The position involves collaborating across engineering, finance, legal, compliance, and go-to-market teams to ensure credit-based and consumption-based features roll out smoothly across self-managed, GitLab.com, and GitLab Dedicated deployments. The person in this position will handle Zuora and CustomersDot integrations, oversee billing defect detection to prevent invoicing errors, and track key operational metrics such as billing accuracy and cost to serve. GitLab operates as an all-remote organization relying heavily on asynchronous written communication through issues and epics. Eligible United States residents can expect a base salary range of $139,200 to $235,200 USD, with exact figures determined by location, experience, and interviews.

Responsibilities

  • Own product direction for metering, aggregation, and rating within the usage billing pipeline
  • Manage Zuora and CustomersDot integrations to transform usage data into invoiced revenue
  • Partner with product teams to instrument, price, and meter usage across GitLab.com, self-managed, and GitLab Dedicated
  • Prioritize pipeline reliability, scalability, and performance alongside new capability enablement
  • Handle billing defect detection and remediation to guarantee auditable outcomes before customer invoicing
  • Define and monitor key metrics including billing accuracy, pipeline reliability, cost to serve per capability, and time to monetize

Requirements

  • Experience owning product direction for consumption or usage-based billing systems
  • Experience using Zuora or a comparable billing and revenue platform
  • Experience with prepaid, commitment, or credit-drawdown pricing models and associated edge cases
  • Experience launching new products or pricing models while coordinating across engineering, finance, legal, compliance, and go-to-market teams
  • Ability to align unmanaged cross-functional teams around interdependent launch schedules
  • Experience defining problems for platform or backend teams that serve other internal teams
  • Proficiency with written communication in an all-remote, asynchronous environment
