Job Description
Within Deliveroo, which is now part of DoorDash, the People Technology group designs and operates the platforms behind hiring, internal moves, leave, compensation changes and exits for staff across the brands. Its purpose is to keep this operational layer trustworthy, legally compliant and able to grow alongside a business active in many countries, so that People Operations colleagues can concentrate on the people themselves.
The successful applicant becomes the inaugural product manager with a dedicated remit for Core, the Workday-based HR platform that underpins most People Operations workflows. Its scope takes in compensation, absence, employment status, right-to-work verification and compliance across several countries. Demand for change regularly exceeds the team's bandwidth, so an early priority is converting a constant flow of unstructured asks into a clear ranking that stakeholders can follow. Over the longer term, the position involves setting up intake routines, decision frameworks and partner relationships so the area runs on defined processes rather than on individual effort.
The post is an individual contributor role, not a managerial one. The person shapes tickets and estimates effort alongside Business Systems Analysts and engineers, rather than supervising from a distance. The role reports to a Senior Manager in People Product, and the listing describes a hybrid arrangement in London.
Applicants should have owned a product or systems domain and held genuine authority over what gets built and when. Practical familiarity with Workday or another HR information system, including its configuration, its workflows and the way it connects to other applications, is important. A disciplined method for setting priorities and for explaining what will be left out is central to the work. Experience using AI tools to organise requirements is welcome, although the employer is clear that anything involving compensation, absence, employment status and right-to-work checks must stay under human judgement.
Responsibilities
- Establish and communicate the ranked sequence of work for Core, explaining what is deferred and the reasoning behind it
- Convert unclear partner requests into written problem statements, current-state process maps and measurable outcomes
- Stay in regular contact with People Operations, Compliance, Payroll and Total Rewards colleagues, including difficult not-yet conversations
- Co-create tickets and estimates with analysts and developers, and keep an accurate picture of finished, in-progress and rolled-over items
- Design the operating rhythm, intake channels and documentation that reduce coordination effort across the team
- Apply AI tools to turn multilingual, mixed-format requests into structured requirements, excluding automation of decisions on compensation, absence, employment status and right-to-work checks
- Raise statutory or audit concerns, cross-team dependencies, and trade-offs that could move a compliance date
- Report delivery progress to partners and leaders, flagging early when results will fall short
Requirements
- A track record of running a product or systems domain from start to finish, with decision authority over scope and order
- Working knowledge of Workday or a similar HRIS gained in a PM or TPM role, including configuration, process design and integration points
- Evidence of ranking work when requests outnumber capacity, using a method that others can repeat
- Comfort launching initiatives when requirements are incomplete or missing
- Skill in reframing a partner's preferred fix as a well-defined problem with a testable goal
- Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical colleagues, notably in compliance and payroll
- Practical AI literacy for drafting and structuring documents, plus sound judgement about its limits
Core Skills
Benefits
- Competitive salary and equity options
- Health cover, wellbeing initiatives, parental leave and pension provision, with details varying by country
- Annual leave allowance, including time that can be used to support a charity of your choosing
