Job Description
Smartsheet is seeking a Senior Product Manager II to drive adoption of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) within its developer ecosystem. The position is an individual contributor role that is full-time and remote for someone based in the United Kingdom. The manager reports to the Director of Product Management. Smartsheet's aim is to let enterprise teams use the AI assistants they already rely on, such as Claude, Copilot, Gemini and ChatGPT, to reach Smartsheet work, and MCP is central to that plan.
The successful candidate owns the MCP adoption strategy and sets priorities for the roadmap using evidence about usage and user types. The person sits alongside the engineering lead as an equal product counterpart, and they plan and ship capabilities together. A key question is why organisations that have connected to MCP do not become regular tool users. Answering it requires research, data analysis, and product and go-to-market investment aimed at turning connections into everyday value.
Much of the time goes to working with the people who push AI hardest: command-line power users, builders of agents, and developers who call tools. The role also involves running pilots and proofs of concept with customers, turning those projects into showcases and reference stories, and producing demos, playbooks and documentation that help Sales, Customer Success and Solutions colleagues sell the platform. Additional duties include tracking business metrics, writing product briefs, and shaping pricing and packaging.
Candidates need seven or more years of product management, ideally in enterprise SaaS or B2B software, with proof of driving adoption. Hands-on comfort with AI assistants, agents and command-line tools is expected, and prior MCP work is a strong advantage. The posting also looks for skill in structured customer discovery, clear writing about tools and agents, and enough technical understanding to join architecture conversations. Exposure to regulated sectors and enterprise administration governance is a plus, and the person must be able to work in the UK indefinitely.

- Investigate why connected organisations fail to become active tool callers and act on the findings

- Run pilots and proofs of concept with customers and turn them into showcases and adoption campaigns
- Build demos, playbooks and training content that Sales, Customer Success and Solutions staff can use
- Document MCP tools, agents and integration patterns so users can self-serve
- Set measures of success for every capability before launch, then use post-release figures to iterate
- Draft product briefs and use-case stories grounded in documented customer behaviour

- Seven or more years of product management, including launching high-impact features in enterprise SaaS or B2B software
