Zoox's Release Management team is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test to help ship safe, reliable software for its robotaxi. The role builds hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop tests, designs continuous integration pipelines and leads root cause analysis of system-level failures. It is a full-time, hybrid position in the San Francisco Bay Area, suited to a senior engineer with at least seven years of experience delivering complex Python projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and upkeep of large-scale software and hardware-in-the-loop test frameworks
- Architect and manage continuous integration pipelines that run regression suites
- Lead root cause analysis of complex system failures using log mining and dashboards
- Lead validation of safety-critical monitors, such as collision detection, and mentor a small group of engineers
Requirements
- Bachelor's or higher degree in mechatronics, computer science, electrical engineering or a related technical field
- At least seven years of experience, with ownership of three or more complex projects
- Experience delivering complex Python projects, including AI-based coding for tooling and test writing
- Deep understanding of HIL and SIL methods, including real-time fault injection
Qualifications
- Strong C++ and Pytest customization experience
- Background in autonomous systems or safety-critical robotics validation
- Experience with real-time communication protocols such as DDS, CAN or SPI
