Job Description
This remote, full-time Senior Software Engineer role is with Mozilla's Add-Ons team. The group operates addons.mozilla.org, the hub of the Firefox extensions ecosystem, along with DevHub for developers who publish add-ons, the reviewer toolset, and automated moderation pipelines. The engineer builds features and architecture that help reviewers and moderators work more efficiently and give developers a polished experience.
Primary responsibilities include shipping features across submission pipelines, trust-and-safety indicators, DevHub, and the reviewer toolset, while modernizing the platform. The engineer also helps define engineering standards for code review, completion criteria, production readiness, runbooks, incident handling, and on-call routines. Work includes observability systems, declarative pipeline-as-code CI/CD, and writing design documents, decision records, and runbooks.
The stack centers on Python and Django, MySQL, React with TypeScript, and asynchronous job processing. Development is public, with pull requests and open discussions, and the team runs short feedback loops, a visible backlog, retrospectives, and stakeholder demos. Engineers trace requests and background jobs across unfamiliar code to locate faults.
Candidates should bring hands-on experience building production Python and Django applications, along with experience improving dependable systems and managing pipelines and infrastructure as code. Required background also includes testing and staged rollouts, observability with metrics, logs, traces, and service-level objectives, and creating internal tooling for other engineering groups. Mentorship and clear technical writing are part of the job.
Advantageous experience includes Google Cloud and Kubernetes, policy-as-code, error-budget reliability practice, chaos or disaster recovery exercises, trust and safety or abuse work, and open-source contributions. The listing includes no benefits or salary details.

- Experience building internal tools that other engineering teams rely on
Qualifications
- Experience setting engineering practices such as review norms, operational readiness, and on-call expectations
- Mentoring ability and strong technical writing
- Google Cloud and Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, and SLO-driven reliability
- Trust and safety, automated moderation, or abuse-prevention background, plus open-source contributions
