Coinbase is hiring a remote-first Senior Software Engineer for its Developer Infrastructure group. The organization focuses on increasing economic freedom and operates in an intense, fast-paced environment where teams gather quarterly for in-person working sessions known as surges.
In this position, you will join one of several teams responsible for creating the systems utilized by all Coinbase engineers to write, validate, ship, and run code. Your work involves managing the complete path from commit to production, encompassing continuous integration, build infrastructure, deployment platforms, and testing systems. You will build and maintain foundational platform services that enhance build speed, deployment safety, and test reliability across the engineering organization.

Responsibilities
- Design, construct, and manage core developer infrastructure services covering CI, build systems, deployment orchestration, and testing platforms.
- Enhance critical engineering productivity metrics including build duration, CI speed, deployment velocity, safety, and test feedback quality.
- Maintain services end-to-end throughout their lifecycle, handling system architecture, observability, service-level objectives, and on-call rotations.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to identify pain points and translate them into actionable platform enhancements.
- Spearhead technical designs for cross-functional initiatives and guide them through to production deployment.
- Mentor fellow engineers and help define the technical trajectory of the developer platform.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of experience building and running production software.
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems with proficiency in Go or a comparable programming language.
- Proven history of delivering high-impact backend or platform systems with end-to-end ownership.
- Demonstrated operational instincts emphasizing reliability, system security, and observability.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to drive projects independently across multiple teams.
- Customer-centric mindset focused on delivering measurable impact to other engineers.
Qualifications
- Prior background working in developer infrastructure or platform domains such as CI/CD, build systems, release tooling, test infrastructure, or developer productivity.
- Operational experience at scale using Kubernetes, AWS, GitHub Actions, Terraform, and container technologies.
- Specialized depth in build systems, remote execution, progressive delivery, or test optimization.
- Familiarity with observability and performance tools such as Datadog.
