The Privacy and Compliance Engineering team prepares these platforms for evolving regulatory obligations by constructing fundamental trust products and collaborating across the organization to satisfy rigorous standards.
Reddit is currently hiring a remote Senior Software Engineer, GRC to develop and enhance the software powering its compliance and security initiatives. This professional will design and maintain scheduled workflows, data pipelines, and automated checks across identity, cloud, finance, ticketing, version control, and HR platforms. The position suits a practitioner who enjoys navigating ambiguous problem spaces and connecting risks, assets, and controls across diverse technical stacks. Responsibilities include owning projects from discovery to launch, translating regulatory demands into testable logic, and building integrations that minimize manual effort.
The role requires substantial technical expertise in software development, data integration, and compliance frameworks. Successful candidates will independently manage complex technical initiatives, establish dependable support channels, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary partners across legal, product, security, and infrastructure teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage software initiatives from initial discovery through deployment by partnering with stakeholders to establish success criteria, evaluate technical trade-offs, and deliver final solutions.
- Drive automation efforts for evidence collection across critical systems scoped for SOX and other regulatory mandates.
- Develop and maintain API-driven integrations and scheduled workflows spanning cloud infrastructure, identity providers, human resources, finance, ticketing platforms, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Design robust data models that interconnect risks, controls, assets, systems, and evidence possessing varying schemas and identifiers.
- Construct automated checks that identify stale, missing, or inconsistent data and route actionable issues to designated owners.
- Translate compliance requirements and audit requests into precise data specifications and exception handling logic.
Requirements
- Possess at least 7 years of professional background within security, compliance, data integration, automation, security engineering, or a closely related technical domain.
- Demonstrate hands-on proficiency writing, testing, reviewing, and maintaining code using Python, Go, or a comparable programming language alongside SQL.
- Bring practical experience designing API-based integrations utilizing REST APIs, webhooks or polling, authentication methods, error handling, rate limits, and pagination.
- Show experience constructing scheduled data workflows via orchestrators such as Airflow to transfer validated data across cloud storage, databases, and SaaS applications.
- Hold technical fluency with a primary cloud platform encompassing storage, identity, monitoring, logging, and secrets management.
- Familiarity with version control, automated testing, continuous integration and deployment, operational runbooks, and failure recovery procedures.
- Apply practical knowledge of security and compliance controls regarding system design, evidence gathering, and remediation.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.
- Experience applying frameworks or regulatory mandates including SOC 2, ISO 27001, SOX ITGC, NIST CSF, EU DSA, or EU NIS 2.
