Wise is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer to join its hybrid team based in Austin, Texas. In this role, you will work within the Wise Platform division, which enables major technology companies and financial institutions globally to offer international finance products directly to their customers via an API.
This position involves collaborating with third-party partners to construct integration pathways, supporting implementation phases, and expanding public API capabilities. You will act as a bridge between business development, technical presales, product management, and engineering teams to scale services into new geographic regions and handle multiple integrations simultaneously.
The role suits an autonomous professional who thrives on solving complex technical challenges, guiding partners through post-sale integrations, and improving developer experiences using documentation, SDKs, and code samples. You will have the opportunity to travel to partner sites across North America as well as internal offices in Tallinn, London, and New York.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and consulting to banks and partners implementing integrations primarily after the sale.
- Assist partners during the implementation phase by documenting requirements and defining technical solutions.
- Support business development initiatives by scoping novel features for major partners.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Implementation Managers, and Engineers on strategic planning and project decisions.
- Design and build new features for Wise services and expose them through the public API.
- Scale the platform into new geographic regions by addressing technical hurdles.
- Enhance documentation, APIs, SDKs, code samples, and reference implementations.
- Aids the technical presales team during the sales cycle to secure partnerships.
- Troubleshoot, test, and resolve complex technical problems alongside the API support team.
Requirements
- Bring at least 6 years of professional experience in customer-facing engineering capacities such as solutions engineer, integration engineer, or IT consultant, preferably within financial services.
- Demonstrate familiarity with architectural principles and design patterns like microservices, event-driven architecture, and domain-driven design.
- Possess working knowledge of Java using Spring, Kubernetes, AWS, and service mesh architectures.
- Show expertise in technologies such as RESTful APIs, API design, Swagger, OpenAPI, and OAuth2.
- Have working experience with both relational databases like MySQL and PostgreSQL and non-relational databases like MongoDB and Cassandra.
- Work from the Austin, Texas office for a minimum of three days per week in a hybrid setup.
