The organization is currently hiring a Senior Staff Engineer, Android to lead technical direction for the Android platform and its surrounding mobile systems.
This position requires deep, hands-on architectural ownership and multi-team collaboration to build fast, secure, and reliable native experiences for phones, foldables, and managed enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will establish system contracts, raise engineering standards, and influence product quality across customer workflows.
Responsibilities
- Establish the technical vision for Android and mobile-facing systems to ensure fast, secure, and reliable user experiences
- Design durable production architectures through hands-on Android system development
- Enhance operational reliability, release practices, automation, observability, and AI-enabled validation across initiatives
- Define clear system boundaries and ownership models for mobile-facing architectures without shifting complexity to native clients
- Mentorship and standardization of engineering practices to elevate mobile-system judgment across multiple teams
Requirements
- Extensive background in modern production Android architecture with experience setting standards past a single feature team
- Working knowledge of iOS principles to guide cross-functional architecture choices affecting reliability and product outcomes
- Experience building or shaping mobile-facing platform contracts or backend service boundaries
- Capability to review, debug, and contribute to backend systems to clear roadblocks for mobile initiatives
- Background in designing AI-enabled engineering systems that bolster validation and delivery confidence
- Demonstrated ability to raise quality standards across various production mobile systems
- Track record of translating complex mobile engineering work into reusable patterns and clear team standards
- Strong product intuition and communication abilities to connect technical choices to user results
Qualifications
- Experience developing Android product features across various form factors such as foldables, wearables, or Android Auto
- Familiarity with enterprise mobile environments involving security, identity, compliance, or MDM/EMM constraints
- Background in creating mobile design-system foundations and design-to-code workflows for accessibility and AI-assisted UI generation
