Robinhood is seeking a Senior Staff Security Engineer, Security Operations to lead the creation and execution of its AI-driven security roadmap. Robinhood operates a financial platform aimed at democratizing finance for all users, navigating a complex threat landscape involving sophisticated and AI-powered adversaries.
This position acts as a zero-to-one technical leadership role within the Security Operations group, which handles proactive threat hunting and reactive incident response. The ideal candidate will combine deep offensive and defensive security tradecraft with modern artificial intelligence tooling to engineer dynamic, automated defensive systems.
The role operates on an on-site hybrid schedule requiring attendance in the office at least three days per week. Work locations include Menlo Park, New York City, or Bellevue.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical creation and execution of the Security Operations AI roadmap for offensive and defensive operations
- Lead offensive security research by applying red team, penetration testing, and application security expertise
- Architect and build next-generation defensive capabilities that actively engage, deceive, and track sophisticated threat actors
- Drive the AI-forward security strategy to build a synthetic workforce scaling against automated adversaries
- Identify emerging threat actor motivations and translate intelligence into proactive defensive architectures
- Set technical standards and mentor security engineers within the organization
Requirements
- Have 12 or more years of security engineering experience with depth in both offensive and defensive security
- Demonstrate innovation with artificial intelligence in security operations beyond basic chatbot implementations
- Prove technical leadership at the Senior Staff, Principal, or Distinguished level
- Possess deep expertise in application security, understanding software development and vulnerability points
- Bring a strong background in threat detection, security operations, and adversary tactics
- Demonstrate proficiency with cloud infrastructure security, telemetry, and observability tooling
- Communicate effectively and influence at both the executive and technical implementation levels

- Hold security certifications such as OSCP, GREM, GXPN, or equivalent credentials
