Wise seeks a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join the Mitigation Platform Squad on an on-site basis. To protect customers and maintain platform compliance, the Mitigation Platform Squad builds scalable infrastructure that manages customer information requests, automates servicing processes via APIs, and connects clients with servicing agents. The multi-disciplinary squad spans ingress, collection, case assignment, and case handling domains, collaborating across teams to balance immediate business needs with sustainable architecture.
This role suits an experienced engineer who can embed within teams to maintain robust systems, establish long-term technical strategies, and drive cross-team collaboration. The position involves designing large-scale distributed solutions, writing clean backend code, and documenting platform developments to scale adoption. Success in this position requires a strong bias toward action, effective communication with non-technical audiences, and a commitment to helping the company scale a world-class financial product.
Responsibilities
- Embed within individual teams to construct and maintain robust, scalable systems
- Collaborate on feature delivery, issue resolution, and discovering primary problem spaces
- Drive long-term technical strategy and architecture while balancing immediate business requirements
- Engage in cross-team collaboration to expand the platform for other company units
- Produce appropriate documentation to scale the adoption of platform developments
Requirements
- 10 or more years of software engineering experience
- Significant background working in Java or alternative JVM-based programming languages
- At least 2 years of experience architecting large-scale systems and domain-driven technical solutions
- Willingness to take broad ownership of squad responsibilities including scoping and roadmaps
- Experience mentoring teams on product and technical roadmaps, up-leveling junior engineers, and guiding senior engineers
Qualifications
- Experience leading engineering teams and delivering large-scale projects across multiple engineering groups
