Job Description
Tide needs a Senior Staff Software Engineer who will shape the architecture of its agentic platform. The platform supplies shared building blocks that let AI systems operate dependably and at large scale throughout Tide, covering context management, workflow orchestration, tool calls, trust and policy controls, monitoring and evaluation. The engineer weighs build-or-buy choices, adds third-party parts when they help, and holds on to the pieces that carry the most weight for trust, data and long-term leverage.
The engineer shapes the platform's architecture and leads shared services that cover audit trails, policy controls, tool layers and context APIs. The role works alongside product, data, security and engineering groups to convert use cases into reusable capabilities, defines the bar for reliability, safety, scale and developer experience, and offers technical leadership across the organization. Other duties include controlling LLM spend by routing work across providers, and building automated evaluation pipelines that measure how accurately and safely agents reason.
The ideal candidate has constructed platform or infrastructure systems that run at scale and shows sound judgment on API design, distributed computing, data and cloud-native design. They have led hard technical problems across teams, brought third-party platforms in without surrendering control of the core architecture, and understand reliability, security and observability. Experience in highly regulated fields such as fintech or healthtech is highly desirable. The posting also invites newcomers to get something live in production within their first fortnight.
The back end runs on Java, Spring Boot and jOOQ for RESTful microservices, with messaging over SNS, SQS and Kafka and MySQL or PostgreSQL on AWS RDS or Aurora. Docker, Terraform and EKS host the platform, with Datadog, Rollbar, GitHub, SonarCloud and Semgrep supporting operations and delivery. Web work uses Angular with ngrx, mobile uses Flutter, and the data and ML stack includes Fivetran, Snowflake, Looker, Python, Faust, Flask, Tecton and ML libraries.
