Job Description
Tide is looking for a Staff Mobile Engineer to lead mobile engineering for the product catalogue in one of its business areas, working across several teams. Tide provides business accounts and admin tools for small businesses. Its engineers build on a shared global platform in small autonomous teams that each own micro-frontends. Staff engineers make technical calls that affect several teams and help shape where the platform goes.
This is a technical lead role that mixes hands-on engineering with mentoring. The engineer defines the vision and strategy for how the business area's products are built, takes part in the Flutter Community of Practice, and works with product owners, designers, architects and other engineers to turn requirements into sound solutions. The posting stresses experimentation, shared learning and a growth framework that supports career progress.
Tide's mobile code uses current Flutter and Dart releases. The codebase is modular, with more than 300 packages and about two million lines of code managed with Melos. Common tools include flutter_bloc, get_it, injectable, auto_route, retrofit and dio, with code generation through build_runner and mason. The team writes behavior-driven tests, uses Firebase, Datadog, LaunchDarkly and Segment for monitoring and deployment, and ships weekly releases through GitHub Actions.
The ideal candidate has several years as a software developer, with work in Flutter, React Native or native iOS and Android, and has shipped complex, high-performance mobile apps. They have led mobile engineers on cross-platform teams, care about automated testing and testable code, and have experience with continuous integration and delivery.
