Job Description
This full-time, on-site senior engineering role carries the DataLake title and sits in the data group of Druva's Foundation organization. The group processes very large volumes of data and builds tools that scan it for insight. A key output is indexing and view-building over semi-structured data, which analysts depend on, built with a mix of internal code and commercial products.
As a technical leader, the engineer handles low-level design and build work for the services that make up a product. That involves shaping requirements with product management, proposing design revisions with architects, and collaborating with other product owners to finish features well. The role may take on large feature design, architecture upgrades and difficult escalations, and includes coaching junior team members on their own design and implementation work.
The team watches for new AWS services, storage tiers and changes to existing offerings, and adopts those that help. Strong written communication is expected, along with the ability to publish technical articles and deliver talks to both internal and external groups.
Candidates should bring five to seven years of experience, ideally from a product company that has built globally distributed SaaS applications at petabyte scale. Solid, hands-on skill in Go, Python, C, C++ or Java on Unix or Linux, plus a firm understanding of computer architecture and algorithms, is needed. Using generative AI across design, coding and testing is part of the expected approach, and experience with OLAP data modeling and query optimization is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead low-level design and build work for services within a product
- Design and build large features and architectural upgrades
- Work with product management and architects on requirements and design changes
- Coach junior engineers through feature design, and review their code and designs
- Resolve complex escalations and support teammates on them
- Monitor AWS service changes and adopt those that improve the platform
- Publish technical blogs and present at internal and external forums
Requirements
- Five to seven years of working experience, ideally at a product company
- Background building globally distributed SaaS applications that process petabytes of data
- Hands-on track record designing and developing complex products
- Strong coding in Go, Python, C, C++ or Java on Unix or Linux
- Solid knowledge of computer architecture, data structures, algorithms and design patterns
- Generative AI skills applied across design, coding and testing
Qualifications
- OLAP data modeling experience
- Scalability design and query tuning skills
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
- Tech, B.E., M.E. or M.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent
