The organization seeks a Senior Staff Software Engineer for its Platform Payments division to shape the technical roadmap governing how fiat currency enters and exits the ecosystem across over 50 countries and diverse payment rails. Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute the multi-quarter technical roadmap for payments encompassing transfer paths, orchestration, and payment rails to accommodate business expansion and new product launches
- Design and scale core payment infrastructure including funds-flow services, routing mechanisms, and rail integrations to maintain minimal latency, high availability, and economic efficiency
- Spearhead large cross-team projects from conception to completion, establishing clear milestones for migrations, resiliency programs, and new rail deployments
- Define and enforce technical rules governing financial correctness, encompassing reconciliation, idempotency, auditability, and failure management
- Collaborate with product, regulatory platform, payments risk, and FinHub teams to create integrated architectures balancing compliance, user experience, unit economics, and risk controls
- Deliver technical mentorship to senior and staff engineers across multiple pods to elevate system design standards and maintainability
Requirements
- Possess at least 10 years of experience designing and running large-scale distributed systems in production environments
- Demonstrate deep proficiency in backend programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go alongside cloud-native architecture
- Bring extensive background in money-movement infrastructure, including ISO 20022, payment service providers, routing protocols, and double-entry ledgering
- Show a proven history of engineering highly available systems while anticipating and mitigating scaling bottlenecks
- Demonstrate experience leading technical initiatives across multiple engineering groups and mentoring senior staff
- Exhibit the ability to explain intricate technical trade-offs to executive stakeholders and gain alignment
