Job Description
Druva is a market leader in fully managed SaaS data protection and cyber resilience, securing over 450 petabytes of customer data across 26 global regions. The organization is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to join the Druva Product Platform team on-site. This group builds and operates the core multi-tenant SaaS foundation that powers every Druva product line, including the control plane, distributed APIs, tenant provisioning, identity and access management, and observability services.
This hands-on individual contributor role suits an experienced backend engineer who thrives on distributed systems, concurrency, and high data throughput. The position involves designing, developing, scaling, and operating critical multi-tenant microservices and APIs end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to CI/CD deployments and production telemetry. Successful candidates will drive production operational excellence, champion engineering best practices, and collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and quality engineers.
Responsibilities
- Architect, implement, and maintain resilient high-performance microservices using Go or Python
- Design secure, backward-compatible, and clean RESTful and gRPC APIs for internal teams and enterprise customers
- Write technical design documents addressing trade-offs in latency, scalability, consistency, and cost
- Optimize data models, database queries, and caching strategies across PostgreSQL, Redis, and DynamoDB
- Manage production operations by setting up telemetry, defining service level objectives, and joining on-call rotations
- Perform blameless root cause analyses and implement permanent software fixes for production incidents
- Collaborate with architects, quality engineers, and product managers to define engineering milestones
- Conduct code reviews, maintain automated test coverage above 85 percent, and mentor junior engineers
Requirements
- 5 to 8+ years of hands-on software product development experience building high-scale distributed systems and SaaS backends
- Proficiency in Go or Python with a deep understanding of concurrency, memory management, and data structures
- Experience building and maintaining microservices and REST or gRPC APIs in high-throughput multi-tenant environments
- Hands-on expertise with AWS cloud services including EKS, EC2, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, SNS, and Lambda
- Containerization experience utilizing Docker and Kubernetes
- Database expertise spanning relational engines and distributed NoSQL databases
- Experience with event-driven architectures and message streaming systems like Apache Kafka, AWS SQS, or EventBridge
- Demonstrated production ownership including telemetry, monitoring, on-call support, and root cause analysis
- Commitment to lean engineering practices featuring automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and code reviews
Qualifications
- Experience building multi-tenant platform primitives such as tenant isolation, rate limiting, and quota management
- Domain expertise in data protection, backup and recovery, storage systems, virtualization, or cyber resilience
- Knowledge of enterprise authentication and authorization standards including OAuth 2.0, SAML, OIDC, and RBAC
- Exposure to AI and LLM integration patterns like vector search and prompt engineering pipelines
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth SaaS product environments
- Bachelor or Master of Technology, Bachelor or Master of Engineering in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience
