Job Description

Beacon Biosignals offers a home-based EEG system for clinical development, plus a diagnostics unit that blends EEG with cardiopulmonary data. This remote, as-needed (PRN) opening is for experienced sleep technologists who score home sleep tests. Scorers are supervised by the Director of Clinical Relations, a post that takes direction from the Medical Director. According to the posting, applicants need an active RPSGT credential and a state license for DC, Louisiana, or Delaware.

Scorers analyze recordings from home sleep test devices, including EEG, respiratory, and oximetry channels, to label sleep stages and breathing events. They evaluate sleep architecture, arousal rate, sleep efficiency, and REM latency, and they report notable clinical findings to the interpreting sleep physician. Each assigned study must be scored within two business days of upload unless technical problems intervene, so the queue is checked every day. All scoring follows the current AASM Scoring Manual, including its home sleep test rules, and every computer-assisted result is reviewed and corrected epoch by epoch.

Scorers also troubleshoot monitoring hardware and software, escalate problems when needed, remain enrolled in AASM's Inter-Scorer Reliability program, and keep continuing education current. HIPAA and privacy rules apply throughout, and the posting expects a dependable high-speed home connection and a private workspace that meets HIPAA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret home sleep test signals from EEG, respiratory, and oximetry sensors to mark sleep stages and breathing events
  • Score assigned home sleep tests within two business days of upload, unless technical issues arise
  • Check the scoring queue each day
  • Review and correct computer-assisted scoring one epoch at a time
  • Flag clinically relevant observations for the interpreting physician
  • Diagnose sleep equipment and software problems and escalate when necessary
  • Keep proficiency current through the AASM Inter-Scorer Reliability program

Requirements

  • An RPSGT credential that is current and in good standing with the BRPT board
  • A state license kept current where required, covering DC, Louisiana, or Delaware
  • At least five years working as an RPSGT on in-lab polysomnography
  • One to two years of experience reading and scoring home sleep apnea studies, as a minimum
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Up-to-date CPR and BLS certification from AHA or a comparable provider
  • 30 continuing education units completed within any rolling 36-month window
  • Strong attention to detail, clear writing and speaking, and independent work habits
  • A dependable high-speed home network plus a private workspace that meets HIPAA standards

Qualifications

  • Two years of college coursework
  • Familiarity with Beacon SV software and HST scoring policies, or the ability to pick them up quickly
