Dialpad is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer (Agentic Systems) to act as a core technical leader within its Agentic AI initiatives. Dialpad operates an AI platform for customer experience, providing real-time problem resolution across voice and digital channels for prominent global brands. Backed by prominent venture capital firms and telecommunications providers, the company builds AI agents that learn from top human operators to resolve issues, advance deals, and automate workflows with shared context.
In this position, you will shape the architectural vision and execution of next-generation AI systems, shifting the industry beyond passive tools toward autonomous workflow execution. You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, Applied Research, and executive leadership to design production-grade systems where AI agents can reason, act, coordinate, and securely execute workflows. The role requires establishing advanced multi-agent orchestration frameworks for real-time conversational reasoning over massive enterprise datasets. This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Engineering and offers an opportunity to work from the Bay Area office in an on-site capacity.
This opportunity suits an experienced systems builder who thrives in ambiguity, holds a high bar for engineering standards, and wants to construct cutting-edge AI products from the ground up. Responsibilities
- Define the architectural roadmap and oversee delivery of agentic infrastructure, core orchestration layers, memory architectures, and evaluation systems
- Design and deploy scalable, multi-modal AI agents capable of autonomous support, voice reasoning, and secure API tool execution
- Establish engineering standards, raise the technical bar, and mentor senior peers for an AI-native software development lifecycle
- Collaborate across Product, Engineering, and Applied Research to align technical execution with corporate strategy
- Research and implement emerging agent frameworks, inference optimization, advanced retrieval systems, and safety guardrails
Requirements
- Have ten or more years of relevant software engineering experience
- Demonstrate a proven track record of technical leadership as a Staff, Senior Staff, or Principal Engineer shipping complex, large-scale systems
- Bring a strong foundation in scaling distributed systems and production-grade infrastructure
- Possess hands-on experience with agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or AWS and Google Agent ecosystems
- Show expertise in LLM inference optimization, fine-tuning strategies, advanced retrieval systems, and memory architectures
