The organization is currently hiring a Software Engineer II, Backend (Decisions Orchestration) on a full-time remote basis. This position suits an experienced developer eager to help shape the next iteration of the checkout platform.

In this function, the engineer will build financial products and services designed to increase transaction flexibility and accessibility. Daily tasks involve creating new application programming interfaces and microservice architectures to handle user purchase journeys. Additionally, the role centers on performance tuning and reliability enhancements across existing transaction pipelines.

Team members collaborate across departments to establish engineering best practices, tooling, and standards. The role requires partnering closely with product leaders to scope project details, guide technical choices, and deliver scalable software solutions. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication abilities, a customer-centric mindset, and a commitment to peer mentorship.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build forward-looking solutions for complex, open-ended technical challenges alongside team technical leaders
  • Maintain ownership of checkout system components and manage their long-term health and stability
  • Collaborate with internal and cross-organizational engineering groups to construct the checkout platform architecture
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, processes, and tooling

Requirements

  • Experience developing, testing, and releasing scalable software solutions
  • Capacity to collaborate with engineering and product leaders on project scoping and technical decision-making
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Reside in eligible Canadian provinces including Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan

  • Bachelor degree in a related discipline or equivalent practical experience
  • Proficiency with Python, Kotlin, RPC, Redis, MySQL, AWS, and Github
