Job Description
Canonical is recruiting a software engineer for its Kubernetes product team. The engineer creates two kinds of software: operators, which take on full lifecycle management for critical components, and addons, which let projects plug into Kubernetes with almost no operational effort. The work keeps pace with the latest Kubernetes features and turns useful open source ideas into functionality for end users.
Duties include writing high-quality code for new features, diagnosing issues, and engaging with an active open source community. The engineer works with peers, partners and a distributed team, and can learn from experienced specialists across many fields. The role is remote and open to candidates in EMEA and the Americas. Trips of two to four weeks may be needed for in-house and outside events.
Experience with Go or Python is essential, and experience with both is preferred. Kubernetes experience is a preference rather than a hard requirement. Candidates need strong written and spoken communication, and a degree-level study in computing, a STEM subject or a closely related area.
