Coinbase is seeking a Specialist, CSIRT to join the Security Operations team on a full-time, remote basis. Coinbase is focused on increasing economic freedom and securing digital assets for users worldwide as it scales Web3 products globally. In this role, the professional will defend the organization and its customers against sophisticated threats by protecting billions of dollars in digital assets.
This position is well-suited for a security professional with a strong background in incident response and threat detection. The team encompasses CDRE, Insider Threat, Blockops, and Threat Intelligence. Employees are expected to participate in quarterly in-person working sessions known as surges, operating within a remote-first culture that demands intensity and high standards.
The person hired will manage frontline incident triage, create detection mechanisms, build automation to streamline operations, and collaborate across departments to maintain platform safety during new product releases. Candidates must be prepared to participate in rotational coverage spanning multiple time zones.
Responsibilities
- Manage second-line triage and response for security alerts, oversee incident resolution, and execute post-incident reviews
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and runbooks, while implementing automation to minimize manual tasks
- Collaborate across the Security Operations division to shape monitoring approaches derived from attacker investigations
- Oversee security monitoring and incident response activities tied to upcoming Web3 product releases
- Participate in rotational 24/7 coverage across time zones and mentor colleagues to strengthen team capabilities
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on security operations background covering incident response, alert triage, and network or host forensics across cloud, SaaS, and container environments
- Demonstrated capability to spot detection gaps and establish coverage across diverse log sources including cloud platforms, SaaS apps, and container orchestration
- Proficiency in scripting automation workflows using languages such as Python or Bash to decrease investigation and response time
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals and operating systems including Windows, Linux, and macOS for artifact analysis
- Practical experience utilizing SIEM solutions and threat intelligence tools at scale to tune alerts and enhance signal-to-noise ratios
- Ability to responsibly utilize generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, quality, and costs
