The company is currently hiring a Senior Manager, Policy Communications to direct its Policy Communications team. In this position, the professional will guide public narratives surrounding trust and safety priorities, youth safety, and responsible artificial intelligence on a global scale. The selected individual will craft messaging and lead public relations initiatives that support regulatory, public policy, and safety objectives. This role requires collaborating across departments with legal, government affairs, compliance, and trust and safety teams to develop strategic media relations agendas. Responsibilities include managing rapid-response communications, building relationships with technology and policy media, handling reputational matters, and representing the organization at industry events and conferences. The position suits a proactive communications expert who is comfortable working with ambiguity and possesses substantial background in public policy messaging. Candidates must be based in Washington DC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, or Chicago.
Responsibilities
- Shape industry news and policy discussions through proactive campaigns and rapid-response communications
- Partner with government affairs, legal, compliance, and trust and safety teams to drive strategic media relations agendas
- Build and strengthen relationships with technology policy press, broadcasters, opinion formers, congressional staff, and third-party stakeholders
- Monitor, anticipate, and manage reputational threats and regulatory developments
- Represent the company at industry events, panels, and conferences
- Draft press releases, blog posts, frequently asked questions, and key messages
Requirements
- Have at least 10 years of experience in corporate, media, political, government, or agency communications
- Possess experience driving policy- and safety-focused media campaigns that translate complex concepts into clear narratives
- Demonstrate strong relationships with key technology and policy press and influencers
- Communicate effectively with exceptional written and verbal skills, sound judgment, and business acumen
- Have experience with global regulations and policies covering consumer technology, online safety, privacy, and content enforcement
- Serve as an on-the-record spokesperson regarding complex legal and policy topics
- Be based in Washington DC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, or Chicago
