Swiggy in Bengaluru is seeking a Sr. Software Development Engineer in Test for a full-time, on-site role requiring 4 to 6 years of experience. This technical individual contributor position involves independently directing automation strategies for functional and non-functional testing across web applications, mobile web, and embedded web views.
The person in this role will build test automation frameworks, develop self-serve tools, and introduce framework features utilized by the broader quality assurance department. Responsibilities also include optimizing test strategies for maximum return on investment, overseeing test coverage through regular reports for engineering teams and stakeholders, and delivering hands-on technical contributions across one or multiple concurrent projects.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement functional and non-functional test automation strategies for web apps, mobile web, and embedded web views
- Develop automation framework capabilities and self-serve utilities for the entire QA team
- Optimize test strategies to maximize return on investment from automated areas
- Manage and maintain test coverage by delivering periodic reports to engineering and stakeholders
- Contribute hands-on technical execution across single or multiple simultaneous projects
- Design database schemas for self-serve utilities
Requirements
- 4 to 6 years of professional experience
- Ability to execute independently and handle complex projects with stakeholders
- Prior experience with visual regression, accessibility, performance testing, CI/CD integration using GitHub Actions or Jenkins, flaky-test management, and component testing
- Experience creating optimal short-term and long-term test strategies and plans covering functional, non-functional, analytics, and automation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Solid design skills and implementation-level experience with design patterns
- Understanding of mobile app and web automation using Appium, Selenium, or TypeScript
- Experience building test automation frameworks and self-serve tools
- Prior test automation experience for REST-based web services utilizing Java
- Hands-on expertise in both functional and non-functional automation for web applications and REST services
- Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries with joins
Qualifications
- Prior experience with TypeScript and end-to-end frameworks such as Playwright or Cypress
