Operating under a remote Flex First work model, the position allows team members to work from home, offices, or other preferred locations while participating in periodic in-person gatherings.

This role suits an experienced mobile developer who can guide technical direction, build scalable software, and navigate shifting operational demands. The person in this position will create user experiences that help retailers process orders efficiently, impacting delivery speed and marketplace reliability. Daily tasks involve collaborating with product managers, designers, backend developers, iOS engineers, and external retail partners.

Successful candidates will take ownership of projects from initial discovery to production release, balancing immediate client requirements with long-term platform health. Key responsibilities include enhancing application performance, resolving technical debt, mentoring peers, and contributing to strategic product roadmaps.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical execution and direction for Android software supporting order picking phases
  • Design, build, test, and maintain applications utilizing Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and RxJava
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Backend, and iOS teams alongside retail partners and external vendors
  • Manage end-to-end project delivery while balancing urgent business needs with platform scalability
  • Enhance app performance, reliability, and observability through profiling, instrumentation, and refactoring
  • Facilitate design reviews, mentor other engineers, and establish team best practices

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of professional software development experience with a focus on Android applications
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin and modern mobile development frameworks like Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and RxJava
  • Demonstrated history of guiding technical execution for cross-functional software projects from concept to launch
  • Experience designing maintainable Android architectures and optimizing performance, testing, and observability
  • Proven ability to partner with cross-functional product and engineering stakeholders
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical trade-offs and decisions

Qualifications

  • Background building mobile software for retail, logistics, fulfillment, delivery, workforce, or similar operational settings
  • Experience supporting multiple product teams, enterprise customers, or high-priority initiatives simultaneously
  • Familiarity with Android performance profiling, startup optimization, crash reduction, and large-scale observability
  • History of contributing to mobile platform strategies, shared tools, or technology migrations
  • Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction without direct authority
  • Experience working with external enterprise partners or vendors to deliver reliable operational solutions
