Job Description

The Duo Agent Platform organization is currently hiring a Staff Backend Engineer for the DAP Repository Flows team. This group concentrates on two main functional areas: project onboarding to help customers adopt the Duo Agent Platform efficiently, and repository flows which utilize scheduled and autonomous agents operating directly on user codebases. In this capacity, the engineer will define architectural strategies, solve complex technical challenges, and guide cross-functional initiatives.

This position is well-suited for a senior technical professional with extensive production background in Ruby and Ruby on Rails who has integrated large language models into software applications. Team members collaborate asynchronously across a distributed environment, requiring strong written communication skills, technical leadership, and the ability to mentor intermediate and senior peers.

Responsibilities

Establish and execute technical strategy for the DAP Repository Flows team.
Architect and deliver scheduled and autonomous agents that interact with customer codebases.
Build and improve the DAP onboarding workflow for rapid project configuration.
Coordinate across the Duo Agent Platform division to harmonize shared patterns and interfaces.
Provide mentorship to intermediate and senior engineering staff while reviewing code and designs.
Tackle challenging technical obstacles and proactively mitigate them through careful architecture.

Requirements

Production-level, hands-on background working with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
Demonstrated experience incorporating LLMs into software products rather than training ML models.
Practical history of developing agentic systems capable of autonomous or semi-autonomous actions on behalf of users.
Proven track record of designing and launching large-scale systems and steering cross-team technical strategies.
Proficiency in written communication for a distributed, asynchronous operational model.
