GitLab is currently seeking a Staff Enterprise Architect to shape and scale the internal enterprise technology landscape.
This role suits an experienced architect who can translate overarching strategy into detailed, buildable technical designs rather than managing people. Operating across business, application, data, and technology lenses, the architect will address complex integration challenges, streamline core platforms, and embed AI strategically into organizational workflows. The ideal candidate influences teams through collaboration and technical expertise.
Responsibilities
- Map current-state processes and capabilities with product management and process owners to eliminate friction and manual workarounds
- Architect cross-functional end-to-end workflows spanning front and back office systems, including configure-price-quote, billing, and renewals
- Serve as an embedded architect for Applications engineering teams to produce high-level designs for core platforms like Salesforce, NetSuite, and Zendesk
- Conduct quarterly platform health checks and publish report cards tracking headroom, limit consumption, and ownership of fixes
- Design operational and analytical data flows, integration contracts, and retrieval patterns for enterprise AI tools
- Establish platform integration patterns for iPaaS tooling, identity and access management, and cloud services
- Build proofs of concept for difficult technical issues and root-cause production defects to prevent recurrence
Requirements
- Deep expertise in application architecture and data architecture
- Hands-on background in integration, automation, and applied AI such as retrieval-augmented generation and agent orchestration
- Experience architecting core enterprise business systems like ERP, CRM, CPQ, billing, and customer service platforms
- Knowledge of data modeling, integration architecture patterns, API design, and data warehouse technologies
- Practical experience with iPaaS tooling and running production integrations
