Gusto is looking for a Staff Product Manager to join its Consumer Money team and lead core financial services experiences for workers. Gusto provides payroll, benefits, and HR software to over half a million small businesses nationwide. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of payroll and consumer banking, building products like Gusto Wallet that help workers manage cash flow, save automatically, and access earned wages directly.

This position suits an experienced product manager who is comfortable navigating ambiguity and leveraging AI tools within a lean, mission-driven product environment. You will own strategic initiatives from onboarding and everyday usage to retention across multiple platforms. Working collaboratively with cross-functional partners, you will handle fintech infrastructure, evaluate external vendors, and measure key performance metrics.

Gusto operates physical offices in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees based in those areas are expected to work on-site approximately two to three days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Own roadmap initiatives related to financial services, assisting workers with spending, saving, credit, and money management.
  • Deliver consumer banking features spanning onboarding, activation, everyday use, retention, and support across all customer surfaces.
  • Take full accountability for the business results of your assigned workstream.
  • Serve as the fintech infrastructure and payments expert to design durable systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, data, risk, compliance, legal, and operations teams to ship compliant and functional products.
  • Assess and manage external vendor partnerships, including issuing banks and card processors.
  • Define and track key performance indicators such as activation, funding, engagement, and retention.

Requirements

  • Have at least seven years of product management experience.
  • Bring directly related product management work history in accounting, financial software, or a closely adjacent domain.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with accounting concepts including journal entries and reconciliation flows.
  • Be comfortable using AI tools and prototypes to accelerate development workflows.
  • Possess experience using data to drive decisions and monitor outcomes.
