Job Description
Canonical has an opening at staff level for a software engineer working on identity management. The position is full-time and fully remote, and can be filled from either the EMEA or the AMER side. The engineer focuses on authorization and access control spanning the company's enterprise products and web services, with Go the main language and Python used too.
The job modernises the identity tooling used to handle authentication and authorization across Canonical's products and its public websites. Changes affect everyone who uses a Canonical product. The engineer also writes Juju charms that automate operational chores.
The engineer takes ownership of the system's design and its delivery, drives integration work, and leads technical discussions with a geographically dispersed team. The posting says technical strength and a software engineering background are essential. Secure coding and adherence to standards matter, and the role calls for earlier experience creating identity and access management software.
The ideal candidate is a staff-level or senior engineer who knows open identity standards such as OpenID, OAuth and LDAP, has built authorization frameworks in distributed systems, and feels at home using Ubuntu to develop and ship software.
