Mercury functions as a fintech enterprise offering banking products aimed at founders and startup operators. The organization currently seeks a Tech Communications Lead to manage its technology and innovation public relations narrative. In this position, the professional will shape how the market understands Mercury's artificial intelligence and financial technology capabilities, reporting directly to the Head of Communications.
This opportunity is designed for a resourceful builder who enjoys creating programs from the ground up within a fast-moving environment. The individual will collaborate closely with co-founders and senior product and AI leadership to build thought leadership platforms, handle launch communications, and engage with media, podcast hosts, and creators. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in technology storytelling and acts as a fluent user of artificial intelligence tools to scale output.
Mercury provides a total rewards package that incorporates base salary, stock options or RSUs, and benefits. The base compensation depends on geographic location, internal pay equity, and the candidate's level of experience and expertise.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation narrative for Mercury
- Partner with senior product, AI, and co-founder leadership to establish executive thought leadership platforms
- Design and execute an integrated communications strategy across press, events, podcasts, social media, and owned content
- Identify and secure high-impact speaking, podcast, and media placements for company leaders
- Manage communications for product and artificial intelligence releases in collaboration with product marketing
- Establish and maintain relationships with technology, startup, and artificial intelligence journalists and content creators
- Create and edit written materials such as blog posts, briefing documents, talks, and executive social media posts
- Monitor the fintech and artificial intelligence landscapes to spot trends, competitor movements, and PR opportunities
- Evaluate communications performance metrics to refine future strategies
- Utilize artificial intelligence applications to scale output and test new workflows and content formats
Requirements
- Possess seven to ten years of communications experience with a strong focus on AI, product, or tech storytelling at a technology company or high-growth startup
- Act as a hands-on and fluent user of AI applications for research, workflow automation, or content creation
- Demonstrate a proven history of developing executive and founder thought leadership programs spanning social media, podcasts, and speaking engagements
- Translate complex technical ideas and AI infrastructure into clear and accurate human stories
- Demonstrate exceptional writing and editing abilities with a sharp sense of voice and narrative
- Maintain or demonstrate the ability to build strong connections with tech and AI media, podcasters, and creators
- Collaborate directly with senior leaders and founders with the ability to earn trust and push back when appropriate
- Work effectively as a scrappy, resourceful builder who thrives on creating programs from scratch in fast environments
