Job Description
This full-time, remote UX Designer role sits on the Design System team at Canonical, a company that publishes Ubuntu. The designer defines, evolves and advocates for a consistent design system that scales across the company's products, and reports to Design Systems Management. Work includes building and evolving the design system so that it is adopted, consistent, scalable and accessible across products. The designer turns user needs and brand values into reusable parts, patterns and guidance, designs and documents UI components, token systems and interaction patterns, and writes documentation and offers help to teams across functions. The designer also helps set governance for how teams use the system and keeps the roadmap on schedule.
The posting seeks UX or product design experience concentrated on design systems in complicated environments, including a portfolio that shows component libraries, documentation and work on large systems. A working knowledge of Figma, Storybook and token-based workflows is expected, along with experience partnering with engineers to connect design and code.
Candidates should apply a clear design process, document their decisions, pay close attention to detail, and balance consistency with innovation.
