This Vendor / Category Manager role is accountable for one category on Deliveroo Hop. Working with the Vendor Management Lead, the manager shapes category strategy across range, sourcing, pricing, costs and contracts, promotions, merchandising and marketing. Day to day, the manager picks products and sets prices under the company's principles, selects items for promotions, tracks SKU performance, and examines category results against plan. The role also handles local and international grocery suppliers, negotiates terms, resolves disputes including invoice reconciliation, and monitors compliance.
The post is based in Dubai's DIFC office on a hybrid schedule of three office days a week, reporting to the Senior Vendor Manager. Responsibilities
- Select products and set prices in line with range principles
- Nominate SKUs for promotions and refine the range based on performance
- Review category results against plan and drive improvement
- Build and maintain relationships with grocery suppliers
- Negotiate contracts and service levels with vendors
- Assess vendor performance, take corrective steps and monitor compliance
- Settle vendor disputes and reconcile invoices and payments
- Track market moves to find new vendors and range ideas
- Coordinate with the in-stock team on sourcing and inventory levels
Requirements
- Three or more years in vendor or category management, or buying
- Analytical approach to judging vendor and category performance
- Solid negotiating ability and a knack for building supplier partnerships
- Strong communication across internal teams
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, unclear environment
- Proactive, results-focused approach to procurement
- Working knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets
Qualifications
- Grocery experience, an advantage but not required
- International FMCG sourcing, including fresh produce
- BI and analytics tools such as SQL, Tableau or Power BI
