Job Description

This position fits professionals who want to shape global economic connectivity and work on critical infrastructure. Team placement involves a matching process during the final hiring stages, with potential placement across core infrastructure, developer infrastructure, data infrastructure, admin platforms, service platforms, or developer productivity AI subteams. Engineers will create internal and external customer experiences, plan roadmaps, collaborate with stakeholders, and troubleshoot production issues.

Stripe builds foundational platforms allowing products and services to scale reliably, efficiently, and securely. Engineers in this division handle tier-zero systems, developer tools, search and analytics capabilities, and internal product tooling. Candidates should possess strong software engineering capabilities, experience with distributed systems, and a high level of autonomy.

Responsibilities

Design, construct, test, and deploy software code daily across various systems and processes
Create positive customer experiences for both internal and external teams utilizing Stripe infrastructure
Contribute to roadmap planning and work prioritization
Collaborate closely with various customers and stakeholders across the company
Troubleshoot and resolve production problems across multiple services and technology stack layers

Requirements

Possess solid software engineering skills with enthusiasm for core technology areas
Demonstrate the ability to write high-quality code in programming languages such as Go, Java, or C and C++
Have between 2 and 12 plus years of professional hands-on software development experience
Show proficiency in writing well-factored algorithms using common data structures
Bring practical experience in building or contributing to large-scale distributed systems
Exhibit strong collaboration skills to work across workstreams and support peer success
Display customer focus with the ability to represent user experience across different forums
Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset capable of thriving under high autonomy and responsibility

Qualifications

Experience improving end-to-end performance within distributed systems
Demonstrated focus on the needs of internal and external users
Track record of maintaining high standards when interacting with production environments
