Job Description
Spreedly is seeking a Controller to direct its accounting operations and foster a scalable, automated environment. Reporting to the VP of Finance, this leadership position involves managing the complete accounting lifecycle, improving financial systems, and collaborating closely with FP&A, Legal, and other internal teams. Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, Spreedly operates an open payments platform that connects mid-market and enterprise merchants to global payment gateways, processors, and fraud tools through a single API.
This role is ideal for an autonomous accounting professional who enjoys untangling complex operational challenges and modernizing financial workflows. Because the company utilizes a usage-based business model featuring commitments, overages, and billing in arrears, the incoming Controller will encounter unique financial accounting tasks beyond standard SaaS environments. The person stepping into this position will oversee key financial platforms including NetSuite, Orb, and Ramp, while utilizing artificial intelligence tools to streamline routine tasks and enhance data integrity across all integrations.
The organization values transparency, collaborative problem-solving, and the ethical integration of modern technology to improve business impact. Finalist candidates will undergo background and reference checks, and applicants must already possess legal authorization to work in the job location country without requiring future sponsorship.
