Job Description

Monzo is hiring a Credit Risk Oversight Manager for its second line Credit Risk Oversight group, which checks and challenges the first line Borrowing teams as the lending book expands. The job is full-time and can be carried out from London or remotely within the UK. Pay is listed as £79,900 to £95,000, with incentive awards and benefits.

The core of the role is ongoing supervision of credit risk. The manager would examine how current lending products are doing, build and refine monitoring measures, and contribute to committees and forums. They would also support first line credit strategy changes, such as new launches and pilots, and offer analysis-based challenge and alternative proposals to help management decide.

Other tasks include leading second line assurance on thematic reviews, collaborating with model validation and model development groups on the models that underpin credit strategy, adding credit expertise to stress testing and forecasting, and helping keep the Credit Risk Framework in working order. The posting also wants a measured, proportionate approach so that risk management becomes part of everyone's normal work.

The strongest candidate brings a solid background in consumer or small business credit risk, ideally covering unsecured lending like credit cards, loans or overdrafts. Hands-on work with credit scorecards and net present value models, strong analytical ability, and solid SQL are important. Skill in explaining complicated matters plainly to non-specialists and in building stakeholder trust also counts.

  • Clear, simple communication of problems and solutions
