Moniepoint is currently hiring a Detection and Response Engineer to join the incident response department on an on-site basis.
This position is designed for security professionals who have progressed beyond basic alert triage and want to lead comprehensive investigations from beginning to end. Selected candidates will manage escalated security incidents, draft and refine detection rules using a Detection-as-Code workflow, and build security automation. Team members collaborate closely with leadership to decrease investigation timeframes, minimize detection gaps, and advance toward greater technical ownership across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Manage escalated security incidents through all phases including scoping, evidence gathering, threat analysis, containment, and remediation.
- Reverse engineer malware to analyze behavior, extract indicators of compromise, identify attacker techniques, and establish proper responses.
- Perform threat hunting activities utilizing existing detection content, threat intelligence, and hypothesis-driven analysis.
- Write, test, and deploy detection rules through the CI/CD Detection-as-Code pipeline.
- Refine existing detection logic to decrease false positives based on investigative findings.
- Build and maintain security orchestration, automation, and response playbooks including AI-driven and agentic workflows.
- Participate in simulation exercises such as tabletop, purple-team, and threat-intel scenarios.
- Partner with cloud security, infrastructure, and development groups to remediate systemic security vulnerabilities.
- Onboard log sources and oversee ingestion health across cloud and enterprise applications.
- Conduct threat modeling exercises for critical infrastructure and translate results into detection rules.
Requirements
- Possess two to four years of practical experience in detection engineering, security operations center operations, or incident response.
- Demonstrate hands-on proficiency writing or tuning detection rules in a SIEM using rule languages like YARA-L, KQL, CQL, or Sigma.
- Show solid familiarity with EDR platforms, SIEM technologies, log analysis, and end-to-end incident investigation.
- Have a working knowledge of the MITRE ATT&CK framework and its application to detection coverage.
- Utilize scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript for automation and detection support tasks.
- Maintain strong written communication skills for producing incident reports and documentation.
Qualifications
- Hold a bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline, or possess equivalent practical experience.
- Bring experience working with SOAR platforms or developing automation tools for alert triage and enrichment.
- Have exposure to multi-cloud setups including AWS and GCP, as well as financial sector threats.
- Possess foundational experience in digital forensics or malware analysis.
- Hold professional certifications such as CySA+, GCIH, or equivalent incident response and detection engineering credentials.
Core Skills
Benefits
- Competitive compensation package including an attractive salary, annual bonus, and pension plan.
