Job Description
This is a full-time, on-site individual contributor position centred on employee relations, with some policy, compliance and project work attached. The partner works alongside HR Business Partners by offering practical guidance and by taking charge of demanding matters, such as cases about job performance, workplace conduct, formal complaints and fitness to work. These are handled fairly and with compassion while managing risk.
The post belongs to an APAC team yet concentrates on Asian markets, with Malaysia described as the regional hub that matters most. The other Asian markets covered are the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Singapore. The incumbent works under the ER and Policy Lead and sits in the People Strategy and Enablement unit, and the lead is located in Melbourne. Movement across the region is part of the work, with trips to Melbourne now and then.
The ideal person is an experienced ER practitioner who enjoys hands-on work, understands employment law across several Asian jurisdictions and can apply it sensibly, and influences people from varied cultural backgrounds and seniority levels. Responsibilities extend to running or supervising investigations, liaising with outside counsel, appearing at conciliations or tribunals when needed, and strengthening the skills of HR staff and people managers. The posting says nothing about the employer's products or broader operations.

- Skilled at relationship management and persuasion across cultures and levels
- Able to travel regionally and, as needed, to Melbourne
