Job Description
SEEK is recruiting a Staff Engineer for its Ad Products and Add-Ons team. The posting does not specify a city, and the role is full-time and on-site. The team builds the service endpoints, front-end components, domain logic and product catalogue features that help hirers find, choose and use products that increase their reach and value. The work sits where product experience meets monetisation.
The Staff Engineer steers the team's architecture and technical direction, and sets a roadmap weighing customer value, dependability, security, durability, monitoring, spending, speed and technical debt. The engineer guides scalable software and APIs from the drawing board through release and running in production. The role is hands-on, and the engineer is the go-to person when production incidents turn complicated, then drives learning and prevention afterwards.
The role spans engineering practice as well as delivery. The engineer improves developer experience through CI/CD, testing, observability and documentation, and helps make repositories and workflows ready for AI-assisted work. The engineer is expected to apply sanctioned AI coding assistants throughout normal practice, and to share learnings across the wider engineering group.
Candidates need extensive experience shipping and operating live services, APIs or platforms in cloud settings, and proven leadership at staff level. Sound architecture instincts spanning secure coding, CI/CD, test strategy, observability, resilience and cost are required, along with the ability to link technical plans to commercial outcomes. Practical use of AI-assisted coding software and agent-style workflows is expected, and production experience with LLM applications is valued.
Responsibilities
- Steer where this group's services, systems and platforms head and how they are structured
- Keep a practical roadmap current that balances customer value, dependability, security, cost and technical debt
- Guide scalable software and APIs from the drawing board through release and running in production
- Serve as the go-to person when production problems get complicated, then drive prevention work
- Make the developer workflow smoother via CI/CD, testing, observability and written docs
- Apply sanctioned AI coding assistants throughout delivery and prepare repositories for AI use
- Share AI adoption learnings across the wider engineering group
Requirements
- Extensive background shipping and operating live services, APIs or platforms in cloud settings
- Proven staff-level leadership with influence beyond one squad
- Sound architecture instincts spanning secure coding, CI/CD, test strategy, observability, resilience and cost
- Ability to connect technical roadmaps to customer value and commercial outcomes
- Pragmatic calls when quality goals, product demands, risk and deadlines pull in different directions
- Cross-functional influencing and communication, without relying on hierarchy
- Practical use of AI-assisted coding software and agent-style workflows
- Ability to stay hands-on across domains rather than focusing on a single stack
Qualifications
- Production experience with LLM apps, agents or pipelines, or comparable judgement on safety and oversight
- Experience increasing team leverage through standards, guidance, communities of practice or coaching
- A practice of passing hands-on lessons on to the broader engineering community
Core Skills
Benefits
- Annual performance bonus plan
- Flexible working that combines office days with remote days, according to the role
- Paid and unpaid leave options, such as flexible personal days and volunteer days, plus the option to buy extra leave
- Paid parental leave of 14 weeks for primary carers and 2 weeks for partners
