Job Description
Turing is hiring an in-training Forward-Deployed AI Engineer for its New York City office. The position belongs to the Enterprise AI unit, which the company presents as a fast-expanding business focused on applied generative AI for major institutions. The job is about turning client problems into AI systems that produce measurable financial returns.
New hires begin with an eight-week development program named Turing Akademia. The program mixes technical instruction, production-style projects, and regular critique. Participants who finish it are slated to join client assignments on live Enterprise AI projects, working full time as engineers.
The work spans finding customer pain points worth solving, designing architecture, and shipping production software. Typical builds include agent-based workflows, tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation, and the interfaces, data pipelines, and integrations that connect them. The engineer is accountable for how these systems are tested, monitored, secured, kept responsive, scaled, and budgeted, and presents trade-offs to senior people on the client side.
The ideal candidate has at least five years of experience building full-stack or production software. Prior exposure to AI, large language models, retrieval systems, or agents helps but is optional. Attendance at the New York office or a client site is expected three to five days each week, depending on the client. Base pay is listed between $170,000 and $210,000, with equity included.
Responsibilities
- Pinpoint high-value customer problems and agree with clients on the business results an AI solution should deliver
- Design and ship production AI systems that span multi-agent workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, APIs, and data pipelines
- Take ownership of evaluation, monitoring, security, reliability, response time, scale, and spend for delivered systems
- Brief senior client leaders on technical choices and progress
Requirements
- Five or more years of production software development as a full-stack or backend engineer
- Working command of programming, service APIs, databases, cloud platforms, and modern engineering practice
- Clear technical communication and steady composure under pressure
- Presence in the New York area, or within a practical commute, for in-person days
Qualifications
- Exposure to AI systems, LLMs, RAG, or agent frameworks (a plus, not mandatory)
- Quick learner who welcomes critique and new tooling
Core Skills
Benefits
- Equity granted alongside base pay
