Job Description
Faire operates a technology wholesale platform designed to bridge local independent retailers and global brands through data and machine learning. The company is currently seeking a Growth Platform, Marketing Engineer to work out of the New York office on a full-time, hybrid schedule.
In this capacity, you will operate as an engineer embedded directly inside the marketing department rather than working behind a ticket queue. Your core mission is to build foundational systems that enable marketers to execute campaigns independently. Initial projects include revamping landing page workflows for content and paid teams, and developing self-service audience syncing mechanisms. You will write code directly within production environments, handle end-to-end service ownership, participate in on-call rotations, and integrate AI agents equipped with evaluation harnesses and monitoring tools.
This role suits experienced software engineers who enjoy tackling ambiguous technical challenges, analyzing warehouse data, and translating recurring marketing requests into scalable, automated solutions. You will collaborate closely with lifecycle, paid, brand, and product marketing groups, as well as broader engineering partner teams.
Faire staff follow a hybrid workplace model requiring attendance in the office three days each week, typically Tuesdays, Thursdays, and a third flexible day of choice, with up to four weeks of remote work permitted annually. The company provides equal employment opportunities for all applicants.
Responsibilities
- Write production code across the codebase and manage services end-to-end including deployment, monitoring, and on-call duties
- Partner directly with lifecycle, paid, brand, and product marketing teams to analyze recurring operational requests and engineer scalable automated solutions
- Develop self-service capabilities for marketers regarding audience syncing and landing page creation
- Deploy AI agents into marketing workflows backed by evaluation frameworks, monitoring, and defined failure modes
- Convert ambiguous business requirements into scoped, prioritized implementation plans while communicating tradeoffs to non-technical partners
Requirements
- Minimum of four years of experience building and maintaining production software within or adjacent to growth, marketing, or go-to-market teams
- Proficiency with production software stacks including backend technologies like Kotlin, Java, JUnit, Hibernate, Guice, and Jersey, alongside frontend tools like React and Next.js
- Working knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL and CockroachDB, HTTP, JSON, Protocol Buffers, and cloud infrastructure on AWS
- Practical SQL skills and data warehouse familiarity to instrument metrics and guide technical decisions
- Hands-on expertise using AI coding agents and embedding large language models into production systems with proper evaluations and monitoring
- Experience taking a system from conception through deployment, handling on-call responsibilities, and handing it over to non-technical operators
Qualifications
- Prior marketplace or two-sided e-commerce industry background
- Direct production experience utilizing Kotlin or Java for backend engineering and JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or Next.js for frontend development
- Demonstrated track record of replacing a third-party martech vendor with an in-house developed alternative
Core Skills
Benefits
- Competitive financial compensation
