Zapier is hiring a Legal Counsel to join its legal team and report directly to the General Counsel. This hands-on position focuses primarily on procurement and mid-market commercial matters while incorporating automation, artificial intelligence, and systems thinking into daily legal operations. The person in this role will handle vendor agreements, inbound and outbound commercial contracts, mid-market sales support, and cross-functional legal inquiries from sales, human resources, and procurement teams. The salary range for this position is USD 174,200 to 261,300 per year.
Responsibilities
- Manage incoming legal inquiries from teams across the company and escalate to subject matter experts when necessary.
- Handle procurement, non-disclosure agreements, and vendor contracts through systems like Zip and Ironclad.
- Collaborate with procurement and internal stakeholders to draft, review, and negotiate various service, software-as-a-service, and contractor agreements.
- Provide day-to-day legal oversight for mid-market sales transactions, including data processing addendums and master services agreement redlines.
- Act as the primary point of contact for expanding existing legal team automations, such as ticketing and contract review workflows.
- Partner with employment counsel on personnel-related inquiries and monitor relevant legal developments.
- Design systems, processes, and metrics that align with company-wide growth goals.
Requirements
- Possess a Juris Doctor degree.
- Hold active admission and good standing with at least one US state bar.
- Bring four to eight years of legal experience covering commercial, operational, or general corporate matters.
- Demonstrate exceptional drafting and negotiation capabilities for diverse commercial contracts.
Qualifications
- Combine law firm practice with in-house legal experience at a technology or software-as-a-service company.
