Job Description

Airalo is seeking an MVNO Networks Manager to set up and look after the host operator relationships that let the company run networks of its own in local markets. The manager takes each new market from the first conversation with a host mobile carrier, through commercial terms, licensing and technical hookup, to go-live. Afterwards the manager keeps commercial responsibility for that market while it operates.

The manager weighs up whether a full or light MVNO setup suits each market, prepares the business case with Finance, and presents it to leadership and operator executives. Negotiations cover MVNO, wholesale and reseller deals, and the manager scopes integration with operator engineering teams. Liaising with Legal on licences and numbering, and with product, engineering and core network colleagues on tying new networks into existing OSS and BSS systems, is also part of the job. Once a market launches, the manager hands it to operations, runs service reviews on quality, SLAs and incidents, reconciles carrier invoices against internal usage figures, and renegotiates as volumes move. The post is remote, with occasional overseas travel to meet operators.

Candidates need five or more years in telecom sales, wholesale or partnerships, and must personally have concluded a minimum of two wholesale or MVNO deals with host carriers. Familiarity with full and light MVNO designs, and with duties such as number portability, emergency calls and lawful interception, is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Locate, approach and sign up new host network partners in target countries.
  • Advise on full versus light MVNO structures for each market, weighing commercial, technical and timing effects.
  • Build market business cases with Finance and present them to leadership and operator executives.
  • Negotiate MVNO, wholesale and reseller contracts with host carriers.
  • Support Legal on approvals, licensing, numbering and portability, and keep product informed.
  • Work with delivery teams on portability, lawful interception and emergency calling duties.
  • Coordinate the technical hookup of host networks to OSS and BSS, alongside product and engineering.
  • Prepare market launches through to the first live traffic.
  • Pass launched markets to the operations centre, and run service reviews covering quality, SLA compliance and incidents.
  • Handle escalations for network quality and availability problems.
  • Set up reconciliation between carrier invoices and internal usage records.
  • Analyse traffic, revenue and cost by market and measure results against the business case.
  • Renegotiate terms as volumes and conditions shift, and keep a repeatable market entry playbook.

Requirements

  • At least five years in mobile telecoms, in commercial, wholesale or partnership roles.
  • Personally concluded at least two wholesale or MVNO agreements with host carriers.
  • Ability to build a market case covering subscriber assumptions, traffic forecasts, wholesale cost modelling, margin and payback.
  • Able to present and defend that case to leadership teams and operator executives.
  • Has owned commercial results after launch, including renegotiation as volumes grow.
  • Working understanding of full and light MVNO architectures and the commercial trade-offs between them.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for mobile services: numbering, portability, emergency calls, lawful interception and KYC.
  • Comfortable in fast-moving settings and able to run several markets at different stages.
  • Business-fluent English, and willingness to travel abroad occasionally.

Qualifications

  • Experience inside an MVNO, MVNA or MVNE, or selling wholesale to one.
  • Overview of mobile core elements (PGW, IMS, voice gateways, HSS), OSS, BSS and eSIM provisioning.
  • Existing ties with host operators and national telecom regulators.
  • Experience selecting or managing an MVNE platform vendor.
  • Previous ownership of a P&L or country budget.
  • A master's degree or MBA is strongly preferred.
