This remote Rack Integration Operations Engineer role sits in the Hardware Integration group, which connects engineering designs to physical deployment and manages contract manufacturing partners, hardware quality and logistics for the supply chain.
The engineer serves as a technical quality checkpoint across hardware build programs. Responsibilities include reviewing bills of materials before they reach integration partners to catch part swaps, spec conflicts and build blockers; resolving design change requests with hardware engineers; and verifying that rack builds match Cloudflare specs for power, networking, servers and firmware. The job also covers materials forecasting, matching partner capacity to component lead times, managing inbound and outbound logistics up to final shipment, and acting as the operational contact for partners on progress and problems. Responsibilities
- Review and sign off on complex BOMs before they go to integration partners, flagging substitutions, spec mismatches and blockers
- Settle design change requests and BOM discrepancies with hardware designers
- Check build compliance against Cloudflare specifications for rack power, networking, servers and firmware
- Support demand forecasting and materials planning against component lead times
- Manage inbound and outbound logistics for parts and finished racks through shipment
- Serve as the day-to-day operational contact for hardware partners
- Help maintain vendor scorecards and lead root-cause work on recurring defects
- Follow each hardware build through Jira, including documentation and closeout
- Create and maintain simple automation scripts for the wider team
Requirements
- Background managing hardware vendors or contract manufacturers (EMS or ODM), including BOM validation and schedule management
- Practical skill evaluating rack-level technical specs for power, networking, servers and firmware
- Hands-on operational workflow management in Jira, including KPI and SLA reporting
- Hands-on use of AI assistants or language models to streamline tasks or review data
- Clear written and verbal communication across multiple functions
Qualifications
- Data center hardware knowledge: servers, switches, rPDUs and enterprise cabling
- Lightweight scripting in Python or Google Apps Script with AI developer tools
- Understanding of global hardware supply chains and logistics
- Experience with Oracle ERP Cloud, SAP or NetSuite, particularly BOM and purchase order management
