InMobi wants a Tech Lead / SDE IV who will grow its data engineering function inside the Demand-Side Platform. The full-time, on-site role is hands-on and sits where real-time data systems meet programmatic advertising and scalable backend services.
The engineer designs and runs batch and real-time pipelines that carry bid requests, wins and losses, impressions, clicks and conversions at very high volume. The job also includes building a lakehouse for low-latency analytics and machine learning feature generation, managing the StarRocks deployment used for reporting, and driving cost discipline across the data platform. Governance is part of the scope, including metadata, access control, PII classification and retention rules aligned with GDPR and CCPA.
Beyond data work, the person contributes to design reviews of backend microservices covering bidding logic, pacing, budgets and reporting endpoints, and defines event schemas between services. The role leads architecture reviews, sets engineering standards and mentors SDE II and III engineers. Candidates should bring eight-plus years of software work, four or more of them spent on data platforms at scale. Ad-tech or real-time bidding experience is strongly preferred, and a technical degree at bachelor's or master's level is listed as a requirement.
Responsibilities
- Design and operate batch and real-time data pipelines for bidding, impression and conversion data
- Build and maintain a lakehouse spanning ingestion, storage and serving
- Define quality, lineage and observability norms, plus service-level targets, for every data product
- Run and tune the StarRocks deployment for DSP reporting workloads
- Track platform costs, enforce quotas and report on unit economics
- Lead data governance covering metadata, cataloguing, access control, PII handling and retention
- Review backend microservice designs and event schemas across the bid request lifecycle
- Work alongside the bidder team on fast lookups for real-time targeting and with ML engineers on the model lifecycle
- Mentor SDE II and III engineers and lead architecture reviews
Requirements
- Eight or more years of software engineering work, four or more of them spent on data platforms at scale
- Deep experience with distributed stream processing such as Kafka, Flink or Spark Structured Streaming
- Strong SQL and experience tuning analytical queries at very large scale
- Practical experience with StarRocks or similar fast analytics databases
- Python as the primary language, with Java or Scala for production services and data jobs
- Experience building RESTful APIs or gRPC microservices
Qualifications
- Ad-tech, programmatic or real-time bidding background, strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Snowflake or ClickHouse
- Experience with Airflow, Prefect or Dagster and with Iceberg, Delta Lake or Hudi
- Work with Aerospike or Cassandra for real-time lookups
- Kubernetes and CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions or ArgoCD
- Experience with ML feature pipelines or model productionisation
