Job Description

Monzo is recruiting a Senior Credit Risk Manager to lead its Credit Platform squad. The team builds the shared infrastructure behind lending decisions across Monzo, including the core net present value valuation framework, decisioning capabilities and data foundations. The role can be based in London or carried out remotely within the UK, with occasional London meetings. The posting gives a salary of £125,400 to £169,600 plus incentive awards and benefits.

The manager would define the platform roadmap spanning consumer and small business lending in the UK and in new markets. The role includes leading the development of the NPV infrastructure so it is scalable and reliable, letting product credit teams improve lending economics. The manager would also recruit, mentor and grow a group of five credit analysts, and partner with credit, engineering, product, ML, data and risk colleagues to speed up experimentation and credit decisions. The posting expects the manager to explain technical concepts to senior leaders and to shape the platform's future direction.

The posting describes the Borrowing business as growing quickly across existing products and new initiatives. It notes that more than 90 percent of day-to-day data decisions are supported by self-serve analytics in Looker, leaving analysts free to focus on high-impact problems. The role is for a credit leader who thinks technically and strategically with extensive unsecured lending experience, a detailed understanding of NPV modelling and credit decisioning frameworks, and a record of growing analytical talent.

Applicants should be comfortable in fast-paced settings with uncertainty, building frameworks from the ground up and driving change. SQL is described as essential, with Python and Looker experience an advantage. The interview process has three stages: a recruiter call, a first conversation with the hiring manager, and a final round with key stakeholders. The posting says the process usually takes three to four weeks, and it also offers a yearly learning allowance and flexible working hours.
