Job Description
Moniepoint Inc. is looking for a Senior Data Analyst focused on Fraud to join its team on a full-time, on-site basis. As the largest merchant acquirer in Nigeria, Moniepoint serves 20 million businesses and individuals each month, processing over $250 billion in digital payments annually through its subsidiaries. In this position, the analyst will investigate fraudulent activities, measure their effects, and deliver actionable insights to guide response strategies.
This role fits a professional with a strong background in data analysis within the financial services, risk, or fraud sectors who excels in a fast-paced environment. The individual will design rule-based defenses, build monitoring dashboards, and collaborate closely with engineering, product management, and fraud operations teams. Candidates will enjoy autonomy within a flat organizational structure where individual contributions significantly impact millions of customers.
The hiring process begins with a recruiter phone screen, followed by a technical SQL take-home assignment. Successful candidates will then participate in a technical interview with the hiring manager, concluding with a behavioral interview featuring the Head of Data Analytics/Science and the Fraud Team.
Responsibilities
- Examine security breaches and fraud incidents to quantify their effects and direct response priorities
- Develop and improve rule-based protective measures in partnership with engineering and fraud operations
- Construct and maintain dashboards and reports to track operational metrics, rule efficiency, and fraud movements
- Partner with data scientists, product managers, engineers, and fraud analysts to turn data insights into practical solutions
- Detect emerging patterns early and flag potential risks ahead of escalation
Requirements
- At least five years of professional experience as a Fraud Data Analyst or in a comparable role
- Advanced SQL capability for writing complex queries across massive datasets
- Background in financial services, risk management, or fraud mitigation
- Familiarity with Python or alternative data scripting languages
- Working knowledge of BI software such as PowerBI, Looker, Tableau, Superset, or Redash
- Experience using spreadsheet platforms like Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across cross-functional teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- Background in data governance
- Proficiency with version control tools such as Git
