The organization seeks a hands-on System Administrator to join its team on-site in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. This full-time position focuses on preserving the reliability, security, and performance of the corporate IT setup, encompassing server infrastructure, core networking, automation, and end-user assistance. The right person for this role thrives in a fast-moving operational environment, prioritizes security improvements, and enjoys working both independently and collaboratively.
Daily work spans across managing physical and hybrid systems, writing automation code, overseeing network configurations, handling security policies, and executing new hire onboarding routines. Responsibilities
- Design and upkeep server hardware, virtualization platforms, and hybrid cloud environments
- Configure and troubleshoot enterprise network hardware including routers, firewalls, and switches
- Develop automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, or Bash to eliminate manual tasks
- Deploy Infrastructure as Code solutions with tools like Terraform and Ansible
- Enforce security baselines, access controls, single sign-on, and multi-factor authentication
- Execute worker onboarding and offboarding procedures across different operating systems
- Resolve high-priority technical support requests through the ticketing system
- Perform routine system patches, vulnerability hardening, and performance tunings
Requirements
- Between 3 to 5 years of professional background in system, IT, or network administration
- Demonstrated competence with Active Directory or DaaS solutions like Jumpcloud
- Practical knowledge of Linux and Unix administration standards
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, routing, and switching
- Experience operating endpoint management platforms and mobile device policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or diploma in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related discipline
- Possession of relevant industry credentials from vendors like Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA, or cloud providers
